Pigmentation clinic
Please make an appointment to see me for a consultation so we can assess your pigmentation. I normally recommend skin peels and home care for this along with wearing SPF daily.
Unlike traditional chemical peels that primarily rely on the peeling action of their acid components, BioRePeel utilises a unique blend of active ingredients, each playing a critical role in skin rejuvenation.
These include trichloroacetic acid (TCA) for improving the texture and appearance of the skin, alpha, beta and poly hydroxy acids for combating acne and skin brightening, and a combination of vitamins, amino acids and GABA for reducing lines and wrinkles and countering the effects of skin ageing by UV radiation and pollution .
BioRePeel prevents the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and other symptoms of ageing on the skin. In addition to stimulating fibroblasts (cells that maintain tension and firmness), it increases cell turnover and collagen production for long-lasting effects.
The benefit of Biorepeel is there is very little downtime just a bit of redness that day.
Pigmentation refers to the colouring of the skin. Skin disorders cause changes to the colour of your skin. This can be down to any number of or a singular intrinsic or extrinsic factor. Melanin is made by Melanocyte cells in the skin and is the pigment responsible for your skin’s colour. Melanocytes produce two chemically distinct types of melanin: the brown-black eumelanin, and the yellow-red pheomelanin.
Hyperpigmentation is a condition that causes your skin to darken and or become patchy and uneven.
Along with skin peels we also need to try to inhibit any new pigmentation by using home care products that help block tyrosinaise. Tyrosinase is the enzyme responsible for the first step in melanin production. It is part of a conversion process that creates the pigment (melanin) to be transported to the top layer of your skin resulting in a darkening of the skin. It is a defence mechanism against skin damage.
We use tyrosinase inhibitors to slow down the pigmentation process.
Clinicare home care includes arbutin which is a tyrosinase inhibitor with vitamin c. This brand also has an amazing glow peel with kojic acid to diminish dark areas in the skin.
My top ingredients for pigmentation include
Glycolic acid which is great for exfoliating the skin and stimulating collagen production.
Azelaic acid which is not only great for pimples but also amazing for lightening up the skin. This can be found in the Clinicare Pure peels.
Niacinamide is found in Eve Taylors overnight pigment cream which I stock in salon and also in Clinicare, both brands used in the salon. Its brightening and anti inflammatory for the skin.
Thiamidol is an exciting product which reduces melanin production in the skin and is very effective. Most users see results within a few weeks. You can find this ingredient in Eucerin anti pigmentation products which can be bought online and in chemists.
Retinoids also block tyrosinase production and increase cell turnover these would be used at night and always use SPF as the skin can become sensitive to UV rays.
Fighting pigmentation involves both of us. You will need spf all year around along with trying the above product ingredients.
